  • My Goal: To share my passion of running with others and help them to achieve their running goals. To maybe run one more marathon by age 60.

I started running while serving in the Marine Corps, but not for fun or for a goal. It was required haha. After I finished my tour of duty, I continued running for two more years, then quit running for 20 years. In 2007 for therapy and to get healthier, I took up the sport again.

Throughout this running journey, I have achieved what I set out to do and now wish to share my passion to help others reach their goals.

I feel that running for a goal should be both challenging as well as fun. It is about getting it done and the camaraderie that comes with it.

    Also, to complete a few trail Half Marathons 2021/2022.

Liz starting the path of running to learn how to take care of herself by enjoying the emotional and physical benefits at the age of 37.  She never looked back even when there were breaks in her running regimen, her heart and mind are always envisioning the next great “run”.  She is originally from H-town so she has done many races with Chevron Houston, Fulls and Half’s and 5k’s.

She will tell you many heartfelt stories on how HoustonFit changed her life for a monumental positive which includes fun running trips and the best running crew and running mate a girl could have.

She’s excited to be part of the Fit Family again by joining AustinFit.

Coach Dave

Jump Start / 10K (12:00 to 13:00 Pace)

David has been with Austin Fit (AF) for 5 years.  Training with AF has prepared him to complete 4 full and 3 half marathons.  His favorite distance is half marathon. In addition, training with AF helped me develop my physical endurance that he needed when he picked up cycling (completed four MS 150).

David stopped running for 7 years (due to injuries) and made a comeback to AF in the fall of 2021.  Because he had not been running, he decided to joined AF’s 10k/Jump Start training program.  David maintains that this program was just what he needed to get back into running.  He states, “The program is perfect if you haven’t been running, stopped running due to injury or want to train for a 10k.”  The program is a slow paced, low interval (run/walk) training that helps you with that jumpstart you may need to get (back) into running.

Coach Rita

Walk Fit Head Coach (18+ Pace)

  • 2022-23 Goal:  To help her walkers get to the start line so they can cross that finish line.

Rita started doing triathlons in 2001.  As a way to stay in shape during the winter months, she joined Austin Fit in 2004.  After finding out just how friendly Austin Fit people are, she was hooked.  The next year she started coaching.  Rita loves to help her walkers prepare for their first ½ marathon or their 10th ½ marathon.  She believes that finishing the race is winning the race.

I began walking with AustinFit in 2009. I wanted to get moving by walking with a group and train for the Austin Half Marathon. Through the walking program, I became more fit and made some lifelong friends. We met each Saturday morning and planned social activities as well. Austin Fit makes it easier to walk the long distances because I know my walking friends will be there for me each Saturday.
