What's new for 2022 - COVID precautions

WHAT'S NEW: As you probably suspect, there are still many uncertainties that remain around organizing large in-person groups, so we ask for your patience and flexibility.  We are still working things out as things continue to change and it can be complicated.  The most important thing to remember is at the core we are still the running group you have known and love.  We will get through this together and have the best season ever!   For newbies, you will love us!

SAFETY #1: Join us for "in-person" training!  Many members are already vaccinated+boosted but we will still ask people to be respectful and wear a mask when in close proximity to others - but not when running/walking and training if you are vaccinated+boosted.  Please carry a mask with you during training in case you need to go into a business/gas station for bathroom use, to make a purchase or near others such as during our announcement time.

Health guidelines:

In accordance with the latest COVID public health order by the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that went into effect on June 15, 2021 (here) and at the direction of USA FIT, we are now following county guidelines as we meet together during 2022 season.

-There are no longer distancing or capacity limits

-Face masks are not required to be worn OUTSIDE by vaccinated+boosted individuals but vaccination status will not be verified or enforced

-Participants will be made to feel comfortable if they choose to wear face masks for any reason, regardless of vaccination status

-non-vaccinated individuals are required to wear a mask at all times including during the group runs.

The CDPH will continue to monitor scientific evidence and will amend their guidance as needed, so our plans will be fluid as public policy changes.

If you have questions or concerns please reach out to  info@usafiteastbay.com

Should I attend the East Bay Fit activities without wearing a mask?

Circumstances may vary and individuals should consider their needs, situation, and health concerns first. Those who are feeling sick, have experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days, or have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days should continue to stay home to protect the health of others.

DAVE AND JUDY CARNEY

USA FIT Temecula, CA

I have been a member of USA FIT Temecula for two years. I came to be a member when it was becoming more and more clear to me that my husband really wasn't the best coach for me, and truly we both needed to find running buddies that were at our running ability. An event at our local running store one summer proved to be the solution, when I met the coaches for USA FIT. I turned to my husband and said THIS is exactly what we need. We signed up that day. Joining USA FIT changed me not only as a runner but truly physically and mentally. Having the accountability of being with our group for our weekly runs has forced me to get out of bed no matter how long the miles might be or what the weather might be. I have grown stronger and more confident and have since branched out to join other runners, which before I would not have had the courage or confidence to do. Since joining this group I have run two full Marathons and can't remember how many Half Marathons. I love being a part of this group, and knowing at races there are friends out there running the same course and that we will all see each other at the end keeps me going when the going gets tough. I have been encouraged by the coaches, and learned so much from their experience. I am always so grateful for that day I happened upon this group.. and speaking for my husband as well, USA FIT has truly transformed us...

INGRID EDLUND-BERRY

USA FIT Austin Walking, TX

I have been a member of the USA FIT Austin walking group for the last ten years, and it has been a time of great satisfaction! I get to do what I like most, which is to explore the beautiful city of Austin on foot, and in the company of like-minded walkers of all ages and interests! I have never thought of myself as a hardcore athlete, but I must confess that the number of medals and plaques I’ve earned through the years represents a sense of achievement that makes me proud and grateful for Austin FIT, for our Head coach Elayne Barber, and the group of assistant coaches and walkers who like what we do, and to do it together.

RANJIT BHASKAR

USA FIT East Bay, CA

The camaraderie of the USA FIT East Bay folks was the biggest gain for me. Without them, I doubt whether I could have attempted the half marathon. I also made lots of new friends, which made running races way more enjoyable.

SYLVIA SALAS-HINOJOSA

USA FIT Austin, TX

For friends like Cassandra Manor Medrano and Linda Brown from USA FIT Austin, who would take time to do makeup runs on Sundays with me and kept giving me only positive words to keep me going! For Cassandra who would always tell us "We Got This Guys" on our training runs (I heard it all throughout the marathon in my head! LOL) and for the time she held my hand on one of those Saturday long runs when I thought I wouldn't make it and ran with me all the way to the finishing point - I will never forget that moment and how awesome it felt!

Form: How It Feels is Important

Form: How It Feels is Important How does it feel? It was an endless process. Run a 100-meter stride, walk back and hear this question repeated over and over. These weren’t the words of some uninformed coach or parent trying to fake their way through coaching, they were spoken by Tom Tellez. And when Tom speaks, there’s a reason for Continue Reading
