Shreveport FIT coaches are ready and here for you to being your training! For any program or season, these coaches will help prepare you for any race!

Michael Hart

Organizer - Yellow Marathon Coach & Course Coordinator

Michael did not take up running until his 50’s. While in high school, he hated running around the track because he wasn’t fast, but he always knew he had good endurance. He started running 5K and 10K races in 2005 and has been running and training seriously since that time. This is his ninth year of training with USA FIT and fifth year in a coaching capacity.

He has run 9 marathons including the Louisiana Marathon and the Cowtown Marathon; 12 half-marathons, including the Log Jammer; the Dallas Rock-N-Roll; Seattle Rock-N-Roll; Wounded Warrior Half in Dallas; Cypress Half, and numerous local 5K and 10K runs. In addition to running, he also teaches Spin, TRX, Boot Camp, and Kick-Boxing group fitness classes.

His favorite distance is still the Full-Marathon because the training is so rigorous and the distance so challenging. New motto: “Fear No Run.”

Lauren Thibodeaux

Head Coach - Half Marathon

Years Running: 4 years

Number of Half Marathons: 7 Half-Marathons

Hobbies besides running: Arts & crafts, photography, traveling, spending time with friends

Favorite races: Tyler Fresh 15K, Louisiana Half-Marathon, Downtown Christmas 5K, Backroads & Bayous 10-miler

Favorite distance: 15K/ 9 miles:

I did Couch to 5K programs in the summers of 2013 and 2014 on my own. I started running consistently for the first time in August of 2015 when I began training with USA Fit. I wasn’t a runner, and I never thought it was a possible goal. It’s not as difficult as I thought it would be. Trust me, you can be a runner with time, perseverance, and a little hard work. Shreveport has the best running community, and everyone is super encouraging. No matter what you’re capable of now, you CAN be a runner too very soon! You’ll also make a lot of great running buddies!
I have a dog named Toto and a bird named Charles “Chuck” Lindbirdh (he’s really my husband Seth’s bird). I ran the Heroes Half at 15 weeks pregnant. I stopped running around week 20. I’m looking forward to starting running again and hoping to run my first marathon soon.

I have been an elementary school teacher for 8 years, and this is my third year teaching art at Forest Hill Elementary School. I LOVE to eat!  My husband Seth & I just had our first baby, a sweet boy April 2019.

Allison Mayfield

Assistant Coach - Blue Marathon Run Leader

Years running: This December will make 9 years! I joined USA FIT for my first marathon in August 2015 to train for the Louisiana Marathon in January of 2016!

Number of Half Marathons and Marathons: 12 half-marathons, 4 marathons

Favorite races: Boston! Louisiana Half! Locally: Riverside V, Log jammer

Favorite Distance: the half-marathon

Other: I never imagined I would be a runner or Love running! It became a complete outlet for me during hard times in life. I first began running December of 2010 after I had my daughter, Kinsley. I found out I could run and never looked back! I’d participated in many 5k’s and 10k’s for a long time until I decided to train for a half marathon and then a full marathon. I’ve made many friends through running and love the running community in Shreveport/Bossier. This community has taught me more about running and life! I’ve helped with Kids on the Run, Youth fit program in the summer, and have helped coach a Learn to Run Advance class, too.

My real job is an Adapted Physical Education Specialist where I’m an Itinerate teacher and work with special needs students teaching them gross motor skills that are weaknesses for them. The great thing about my job is the amazing accomplishments I see in students when they succeed!

I have a passion for helping others and seeing them accomplish their goals. Therefore, I look forward to being on the team for USA FIT this season and making a difference in a runner’s life!

Roger Coley

Head Coach - Double Half Groups

  Years running: Hard to say. A lot of 5k’s without much preparation from ’92 or so on and serious winter training in ’09 for the ’10 New Orleans marathon.

Number of marathons, half marathons: 1 marathon and about 20 half-marathons

Hobbies beside running: Cycling, reading, photography

Favorite Races: Locally, Log Jammer, Autumn Breeze, Christmas Run, Turkey Trot, Riverside V. The Louisiana Half was a blast as was Memphis. Little Rock’s Half marathon has a lot of promise, but I’ve run it three or four times and always in the cold and rain.

Favorite Distance: I’ve really come to like the ½ Marathon.

Other:  I’ve been involved in other endurance sports. I’ve done a number of 100-mile bike rides and one rowing marathon.

Richard Eglin

Head Coach - Blue/Green Marathon; Hydration Coordinator

Richard has been running for 18 years.  He has done 7 marathons (New Orleans, San Antonio, Houston, Fort Worth) and 16 half marathons (Shreveport, New Orleans, Dallas, Tyler…) with his preferred distance being the half.  His favorites…New Orleans and Fort Worth.

Richard enjoys cycling and sailing in his free time.

Diana Sanchez-Edwards

Head Coach - Red Marathon Group

Years Running:  I have been running since high school. I continued running and participated in 5k’s over the years. I’ve been involved with USA Fit Shreveport since the first year in 2008. I started as a participant and ran my first Marathon that season, Dallas White Rock! I have been hooked on distance running ever since. I have had the opportunity to coach for several years and I love it!

Number of Marathons/Half Marathons.  I have run 11 Marathons and 20+ Half Marathons.  “Do training runs count?  LOL!)

Hobbies besides running:  Riding motorcycles, spending time with family & friends, crocheting, volunteering, and enjoying life.

Favorite Races:  The Dean-Williams Memorial 5k. This is a Memorial run for Police Officers killed in the line of duty. It raises awareness and funds for people with mental and physical disabilities. It is held every year in Shreveport.  The St Jude Memphis Marathon. We all know what St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital does for kids. Everything about this run is amazing. I am the Captain of the LA Law Heroes Team.  The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics which kicks off the Louisiana Special Olympics Summer Games.

Favorite distance:  Love the Half!

Other:  Running has introduced me to so many awesome people from all over the Shreveport-Bossier City area.  I have made lifetime friendships and look forward to meeting new people. This year I hope to achieve my goal and run my first UltraMarathon. I look forward to training with everyone and I am thankful every day that I can continue to get out there and run. I really enjoy helping others achieve their goals. I Love it when someone crosses that finish line for the first time! #Priceless

Over the years, I have learned that running is more about the great people you meet than how far or fast you can run.

Gulya Chandler

Assistant Coach - Tuesday Workout Coordinator

I joined USA FIT Shreveport in the fall of 2012. Before that I ran a few 5Ks and never thought that I would be able to run a longer distance. Since joining USA FIT I have run about 20 half marathons and 1 full marathon. In the past few years I have been assisting as a coach for the Double Half group and served as the Tuesday workout coordinator.

In the off-season, I love playing tennis in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Besides sports, I like to read, knit, cook, and play piano. I also love to travel and try to incorporate running into my travel plans. One of my greatest memories is running in Paris at night with a local running group there.

To me running helps release everyday stress, clear my head, and have a little social time with friends. For inspiration/motivation, I like to look into Pinterest: “No matter how slow you are, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch”.

Ammiee Morgan

Assistant Coach - Red Half Marathon

Number of years running:   I’ve run off and on for years but joined USA FIT to train for my first half marathon, the Dallas White Rock in 2011.  This will be my first year to Coach (so I hope this will be a group effort).

Number of Half Marathons completed:  14

Favorite Distance:  15K – 9.3 miles (those last 3-4 miles of a half can be tough) Other:  When you see me running you will almost always see me with my wing girl…Allyson.  She and I don’t look like we would fit as running partners, but we have been walk/running together for about 8 years   Everytime we get together I am reminded of why I keep running…friendships and the bling.  This year my daughter and granddaughter will also be training with USA FIT, so it’s a very special year for us.  I’m really looking forward to training with family and making new running friends with the Awesome Red Half group!!   “Tough runs don’t last, tough runners do” -Unknown

Shelley Ryan-Gray

Assistant Coach - Course Paparazzi

I have now been running for 28 years and have enjoyed the countless miles and locations that our sport has taken me.  Running has also brought me into relationships with so many amazing people!  It’s been my pleasure to have served a total of 5 years as Head Organizer.

I joined USA FIT Shreveport the 2nd season, became a coach in 2010 and have loved the many miles we’ve shared.

We are drawn to this adventure for a number of reasons; To be stronger and healthier, to achieve a new distance or time goal for a race, to run in a new place, to spend time with friends, and to make new friends.  All of these have motivated me to come back year after year!

Head Coach - Half Marathon Group

I have been running for 25 years and have done 6 marathons and 6 half marathons. I enjoy biking and yoga. My favorite race is Dallas White Rock. My favorite distance is the half marathon.

Greg Frith

Assistant Coach - Green Marathon Run Leader

Years Running:
I disliked running when I was younger, but took it up about 5 years ago.  I liked it so much that I went from not running at all to running my first full marathon in 12 months.

Number of Marathons\Half Marathons:
I have run 4 Full Marathons (Tyler, Little Rock and Louisiana Marathon twice) and 5 Half Marathons.

Hobbies (other than Running):
I enjoy spending time with the family on the weekends and building\fixing things.

The Louisiana Marathon (great route and awesome post party)

My favorite distance is the Half Marathon.

I am happy to be a part of the USA Fit team.  There are runners of all skill levels that enjoy helping others succeed by reaching their goals.

Holly Hart

Head Coach - Red Double Half Group and Newsletter Editor

Holly French Hart began running about ten years ago at age forty, and at that time, to run a mile without stopping was an achievement. After that, running a 5K was the goal, eventually progressing to a 10K distance and being able to cross the finish line. Since joining USAFit six years ago, Holly has run 10 half marathons, even becoming an official Half Fanatic! She served as a Yellow Half coach for USAFit for several seasons.

With a 50th birthday on the horizon during the 2016-17 season, Holly took a break from coaching the Yellow Half group to train for her first full marathon (a hilly Cowtown in Ft. Worth!) and prove that age is just a number. Having finished that race with makeup still intact and not out of breath for a great finish line photo, she is excited to be an Assistant Coach with her husband Michael for the Yellow Marathon group!

On her running journey with USAFit, Holly has learned that challenges can be overcome with perseverance and the great support of running friends. She started and finished her doctorate while a member of USAFit (and probably wrote much of her dissertation in her head on those Saturday mornings of running), and one summer, in-between half-marathons, Holly had to have foot surgery on both feet – not because of running, but because of wearing too many pairs of high heels! She is proof that if you listen to your body, and take it easy but keep persisting, you can keep going!

In her spare time, Holly enjoys yoga, reading, traveling, wine-tasting, and attending music, art, and theatrical events in the community. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with the love of her life, Michael Hart, and their little kitten, Symphony.

Jeff Thomas

Assistant Coach - Staff Photographer

Jeff has been running since 1970.  He has completed 14 full marathons and 35+ half marathons and has taken part in every USA Fit season since 2008.

Favorite races: Houston Marathon, Boston Maraton and Crescent City Classic

Hobbies besides running:  Sports photography. Cross Country Coach at Benton High and Middle Schools.

Favorite Distance: 13.1!!!

Wallace Robertson

Assistant Coach - Facilities Manager

I’ve been involved with USA Fit Shreveport since the first year 2008.  I was the Green Marathon group coach and became co-organizer during that year. I was the Organizer and Blue Marathon Group head coach for 4 years after that, and continued as Assistant Coach for the Blue Group and Course Coordinator through March 2019.

Years Running:I ran in high school, but I didn’t really get serious again until a few years after college when I began entering 5K and 10K fun runs. I’ve gradually increased my race distances and training mileage since then.

Number of Marathons/Half Marathons:I ran my first marathon in April 2005 and have run 20 so far. I am registered for the California International Marathon in Sacramento in December 2019. I’ve run about 35 half marathons and two 50K (31 mile) trail Ultramarathons.

Hobbies besides running:home improvement projects, a large stack of books on my read pile, and a dog who needs a lot of attention.

Favorite Race:For marathons, Boston; the whole experience is incredible. The Firecracker 5K on July 4th and Autumn Breeze 10K are my favorite local races. The Crescent City Classic 10K in New Orleans and the Shiner Half Marathon in Shiner, Texas have the best post-race parties.
